Combined with its existing daily service to Beijing, that brings the airline\u2019s total China operation to 35 weekly flights across six destinations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here\u2019s the breakdown of the expansion:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Shanghai Pudong<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Daily flights starting October 1, 2026<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Guangzhou<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Daily flights starting March 4, 2027<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Hangzhou<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Five weekly flights starting March 4, 2027<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Shenzhen<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Five weekly flights starting March 7, 2027<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Chengdu<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Four weekly flights starting March 5, 2027<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>N\u01d0 h\u01ceo, China! &#x1f1e8;&#x1f1f3;&#x2708;&#xfe0f;<br><br>We&#8217;re launching five new destinations across mainland China from October 2026 onwards \u2013 Shanghai Pudong, Chengdu, Hangzhou, Shenzhen and Guangzhou. Together with our daily Beijing service, that&#8217;s 35 weekly flights across six destinations.<br><br>Fly direct on board\u2026&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/pED4AMSIfz\">pic.twitter.com\/pED4AMSIfz<\/a>\u2014 Etihad Airways (@etihad)&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/etihad\/status\/2043556381043888570?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">April 13, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Every route will use Etihad\u2019s Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, which seats 28 passengers in business class and 262 in economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The UAE-China corridor is one of the world\u2019s busiest economic arteries, carrying everything from high-tech electronics to luxury goods. Each of these five cities plays a specific role in China\u2019s economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Shanghai is the country\u2019s financial center while Guangzhou anchors manufacturing and trade in the south. Shenzhen has become synonymous with technology and exports. Hangzhou is the e-commerce capital, home to Alibaba. And Chengdu represents the fast-growing western region, increasingly important for innovation and tech development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By connecting all of these hubs to Abu Dhabi, Etihad is positioning itself, and the UAE, as a critical waypoint between China and markets across the Middle East, Africa, Europe, and the Americas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mohamed Ali Al Shorafa, Etihad\u2019s chairman, framed the expansion in diplomatic terms, calling it a reflection of the \u201cenduring strength and growing promise\u201d of UAE-China cooperation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>CEO Antonoaldo Neves was more direct about the business case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cChina is a strategically important market for Etihad and a key pillar of our network growth,\u201d Neves said. \u201cThis expansion represents a significant increase in capacity and a clear signal of our long-term commitment.\u201dHe added that the move supports Abu Dhabi\u2019s broader ambitions to become a global hub for travel and trade.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.aerotime.aero\/articles\/etihad-airways-launches-seasonal-dhaka-route-targeting-trade-and-cargo-demand\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Etihad Airways is expanding its presence in China, launching five new routes and adding 28 weekly flights to its schedule.
