{"id":3936,"date":"2026-04-16T17:14:39","date_gmt":"2026-04-16T17:14:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/menamagazine.com\/?p=3878"},"modified":"2026-04-16T17:14:39","modified_gmt":"2026-04-16T17:14:39","slug":"sheikh-hamdan-reviews-progress-of-dubais-air-taxi-station","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/themena.com\/index.php\/2026\/04\/16\/sheikh-hamdan-reviews-progress-of-dubais-air-taxi-station\/","title":{"rendered":"Sheikh Hamdan reviews progress of Dubai&#8217;s air taxi station"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Dubai has completed construction of its first air taxi station near Dubai International Airport, marking a key milestone in plans to launch commercial electric air transport services in the emirate later this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The facility, reviewed by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, is the first purpose-built electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) passenger station in the city\u2019s planned air mobility network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Sheikh Hamdan said the project reflects Dubai\u2019s continued focus on developing sustainable and integrated transport systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe launch of the air taxi infrastructure marks an important step in adopting new, sustainable modes of transport and strengthening Dubai\u2019s readiness for the decades ahead,\u201d he said during the visit, which coincided with preparations for World Public Transport Day on April 17.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Station specifications and capacity<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The station spans 3,100 square metres and includes two landing pads, charging infrastructure for electric aircraft, a two-level car park and climate-controlled passenger facilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is designed to handle up to 170,000 passengers annually, according to project details.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Authorities say the service could significantly reduce travel times across the city, with a proposed trip from Dubai International Airport to Palm Jumeirah expected to take around 10 minutes compared with roughly 45 minutes by car.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Project partners and operations<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The project is being developed by Skyports Infrastructure in partnership with Dubai\u2019s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).
