{"id":4180,"date":"2026-07-23T10:33:34","date_gmt":"2026-07-23T10:33:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/menamagazine.com\/?p=4180"},"modified":"2026-07-23T10:33:34","modified_gmt":"2026-07-23T10:33:34","slug":"aston-martin-secures-550m-loan-deal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/themena.com\/index.php\/2026\/07\/23\/aston-martin-secures-550m-loan-deal\/","title":{"rendered":"Aston Martin secures \u00a3550m loan deal"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Aston Martin has secured \u00a3550m in loans as it attempts to boost its finances.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The luxury car maker has been struggling in recent years and in March announced it would cut about 600 jobs, as last year&#8217;s net losses leapt by a little over 50% to \u00a3493.2m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The firm has blamed the effects of US tariffs and weak demand in China.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Its half-year results are set to be published on 29 July, but on Wednesday the firm announced loans that it said would bolster its balance sheet and fund future product plans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Headquartered in Gaydon, Warwickshire, most of the job cuts were thought to affect sites in the UK, where the majority of its staff are based.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The company has been burning through cash and at the time it announced the job cuts, Aston Martin said the move would mean annual savings of about \u00a340m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"976\" height=\"549\" src=\"https:\/\/themena.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/635f3930-85f6-11f1-b976-0b9c15b0ccfc.png\" alt=\"A silver grey Aston Martin Valhalla on grass, at an event. There arethree people in hte background\" class=\"wp-image-4182\" srcset=\"https:\/\/themena.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/635f3930-85f6-11f1-b976-0b9c15b0ccfc.png 976w, https:\/\/themena.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/635f3930-85f6-11f1-b976-0b9c15b0ccfc-300x169.png 300w, https:\/\/themena.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/635f3930-85f6-11f1-b976-0b9c15b0ccfc-768x432.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 976px) 100vw, 976px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The Valhalla model went on sale last year<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The funding announced on Wednesday, managed by HPS Investment, includes a \u00a3450m senior secured-term loan, which means it is repayable ahead of other creditors and is backed by specific assets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition there is a \u00a3100m delayed draw term loan, meaning the funding will be available at specific points, rather than payable upfront.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Experts have said Aston Martin has been operating in an increasingly competitive global market in recent years and was particularly susceptible to reduced demand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Chief financial officer Doug Lafferty said in a statement: &#8220;This new \u00a3550m debt financing significantly strengthens our liquidity, providing us with both additional resilience and further flexibility to execute our current and future product plans.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Aston Martin has secured \u00a3550m in loans as it attempts to boost its finances.
